“IPD, BIM, & LCA: A New Alphabet Soup for Success”
DESCRIPTION: CEU seminar presented at NeoCon 2012, June 11.
OVERVIEW: To answer questions being posed by specifiers in the coming years, office furniture dealers and the manufacturers they represent will rely more heavily on data than ever before. This is not conventional specification, lead time or pricing data. It is a new alphabet soup of data for IPD, BIM, PCR, LCA and EPDs. The new data are a layer above conventional product information; they are an extra competitive dimension.

“How to WOW Interior Designers”
DESCRIPTION: Cover story for OFDealer, May/June issue, 2012.
OVERVIEW: We surveyed interior designers about their experiences, successes and pain points in their relationships with office furniture dealers. One respondent underscored the important role dealers play by saying, “The ideal partnership happens when the office furniture dealer brings the necessary tools and skills that designers do not have time to learn.” So what are those tools and skills, and what kind of results are the dealers seeing?

“How to WOW Interior Designers in the Furniture Specification Process”
DESCRIPTION: Whitepaper accepted into the IIDA Knowledge Center, Fall, 2011.
OVERVIEW: “Surveys were distributed to twelve metropolitan areas, and responses were recorded from nine metropolitan areas. Rather than use a survey deployed over the Internet for soliciting opt-in responses, the decision was made to survey a handful of interior designers in greater depth and detail. The reason was to capture as many open-ended responses as possible, or put another way, to gather stories from the day-to-day worklife of the interior designers. This would be more meaningful and have more interest for the audience (dealer sales people) than only sets of statistics and percentages.” —abstract, Knowledge Center.
